I have a number of Hobbies, some are for fun and others are for distraction from my time consuming habit of over thinking and worrying.
I guess you could say they are my go to Self-care activities, it gives me some time to myself, away from the rush rush rush of life.
Photography is a passion of mine; I always have a Camera fully charged and close to hand. I am Self taught; from reading books, magazines or just from trial and error.
I often combine my daily exercise of walking with Photography, taking my camera along with me to take photos of flowers and wildlife. Just getting out in to nature has a therapeutic effect on my mood.
The last couple of years I have become interested in portrait photography; without blowing my own trumpet, I have to admit I am pretty good and I really enjoy it.
I may start sharing some of my Wildlife photographs on this blog.
I love writing, from keeping a Journal, writing this blog, short Stories to writing about Mental Health. Writing Styles are an area that I am currently learning about; I havent found my own style as of yet.
I am hoping to attend a Creative Writing Course; when my daughter is back at school I should have more time to do it.
I know I don’t always get it right, even with this Blog, so any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Arts and Craft
I won’t say that there is one particular Art or Craft that I am great at, although when I was younger drawing was my passion. I am a little rusty at drawing now, I stopped when someone criticised something I had drawn and I took it to heart. It’s only recently that I have taken it up again.
I love making greeting cards, its great to see the smile on someones face when they receive a hand crafted card that you have made. Plus, it’s a craft where you can make it as simple or elaborate as you are in the mood for.
Another craft I have started to enjoy is Crochet. I am only starting to learn how to do it from Tutorials on the internet and with a bit of help from my Aunt and Mum. It is very relaxing, well that is until you make a mistake and need to work out how to correct it.
I love learning; I am interested in all sorts of subjects and try to fit in a course when I can.
Currently, I am signed up to do a course on Childrens Mental Health. A subject close to my heart. I’m hoping that it will give me some insight in to my own Mental Health, why I developed Anxiety and Depression at such a young age. Also it will enable me to support my child with her Mental Health. The lockdown has postponed the course at present, but hopefully I will be given a start date soon.
Once I have completed the Mental Health Course; as I mentioned above, I would like to attend on on creative writing.
Most of the courses I do are online courses and can be worked on when you have some free time.
The Mental Health Course is also an online course; but it is more in depth and requires a certain amount of study each week, so I will need to draw up a timetable.
Do you have any Hobbies?
I am interested to know which hobbies you enjoy, which hobbies you turn to when you need some time out or some time to yourself.
